Phoenix Rising's Harvest Celebration : Call for Choral Scores

Phoenix Rising vocal ensemble, in conjunction with ChoirWorks.com, announces a call for choral scores appropriate for a Harvest Celebration concert planned for October/November 2008. Awards include performance, a live recording of the concert and possible publication on ChoirWorks.com

Deadline (postmark date) : July 18th, 2008

Entry fee : None

  1. Entries should be appropriate to the Harvest Celebration theme. Some possible topics include:
    • Agricultural Harvest
    • Spiritual Harvest
    • Fall/Autumn
    • Halloween/Death/Macabre
    • Thanksgiving
  2. Entries may . . .
    • be the completely original work of the composer/poet.
    • be based on previously existing public domain material. However, proof of public domain status for derivative works must be included with the entry.
  3. Entries may use any of the following voicings:
    • SATB acappella (divisi up to SSAATB)
    • SSA acappella (divisi up to SSSAA)
  4. Entries should be no longer than 5 minutes in length.
  5. Scores should be neat and legible with proper phrasing and dynamic markings noted.
  6. Recordings are extremely helpful.
  7. Composers may submit up to 3 entries (all 3 entries may be included in the same envelope or email).
  8. Please note for each score if you would like it to be considered for publication on ChoirWorks.com or not. Composers published on ChoirWorks.com retain the copyright to their work and receive fifty percent of all net sales from their works (as compared to ten percent in traditional publishing deals).
  9. By submitting an entry, composers give Phoenix Rising permission to make sufficient copies of the submitted work/s to facilitate performance.
