2010 Welcome Christmas Carol Contest

Now in its thirteenth year, the VocalEssence & American Composers Forum Welcome Christmas Carol Contest provides composers of all ages with the opportunity to compose a modern-day carol, celebrating the holiday tradition in their own unique way.

This year, the contest seeks carols for SATB chorus accompanied by handbells (3-5 octaves).

Winning composers will receive a prize of $1,000 and will have their carols premiered at the VocalEssence Welcome Christmas concerts on December 4, 5, 10, 11 & 12, 2010. The performances will be recorded for a 2011 national broadcast via American Public Media.

Complete information about the VocalEssence / American Composers Forum Welcome Christmas Carol Contest, including complete contest guidelines, submission requirements, a helpful guide to composing for handbells, and information on the selection process is available at http://www.composersforum.org/programs_detail.cfm?oid=12236&section=professional and at http://www.vocalessence.org/

Applications must be postmarked on or before August 6, 2010. Faxes will not be accepted. Composers will be notified by late September 2010.
