The 14th International Music Competition Bucharest, 7 - 13 May 2007 will include the following disciplines: VIOLIN, COMPOSITION.

VIOLIN

General Rules

Applicants must be born in or between the years:
  • Age category A – born after 1.01.1997
  • Age category B – born between 1.01.1993 - 31.12.1996
  • Age category C – born between 1.01.1989 - 31.12.1992
  • Age category D – born between 1.01.1977 - 31.12.1988
Younger competitors may apply for a superior age category.

Conditions for entry

Registration in the competition will be made based on: application form, copy of passport, a recent photo and copy of the bank confirmation for the payment of the registration fee of 70 Euro.

The registration fee will be paid into the account RO 91 BACX 0000 0030 0145 6002 of the HVB Tiriac Bank, Izvor Branch – Bd. Libertatii, no.20, Bucharest, for Jeunesses Musicales Romania, Swift Code BACXROBU, and should be sent free of charge to the payee. The entry fee is non-refundable. Drafts are not accepted.

Registration deadline is March 1st, 2007. Confirmation of the applicants' registration in the competition will be made before April 15, 2007.

The participants will bring their own accompanist. A list of first-class accompanists will be provided to those participants who will have requested them on their application form. Their engagement will be made at the participants’ own expense.

Organizers provide lodging for the first 10 registered candidates. Accommodation begins on May 5, 2007 and is ensured for the period the participants remain in competition. For the other participants, the organizers will make hotel reservations upon request, based on special accommodation packages offer.

Upon arrival in Bucharest each competitor should report to the Competition's Secretariat and present a valid passport.

The total amount of the awards is 10.000 Euro: cash (in Romanian currency), instruments or scholarships. The prize-winners will have priority in being included in the programmes organized by Jeunesses Musicales Romania, both nationally and abroad.

All performers will receive participation diplomas. Prizes will be awarded by a Jury whose members are well known personalities of the musical world. The Jury will evaluate both the technical aspect and the expressive quality of the interpretation. If necessary, the competitors may be asked by the Jury members to perform only excerpts from some works. All the decisions of the Jury are final and non-appealable.

Each award-winner must receive his or her prize personally. The concerts will be broadcast by the Broadcasting Corporation or recorded for later transmission. A live or deferred broadcast by other Romanian or foreign Broadcasting Corporations is possible, as well as a complete or partial re-broadcast of the concerts. By applying to take part in the competition, the applicants give their implied consent for this recording as well as for its transmission under the conditions mentioned above. The prize­winners have no claim to additional fees.
