Postmark Deadline: May 15, 2003
Austin Peay State University announces its Seventeenth Annual Young
Composers
Competition, open to student
composers who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. enrolled
in an accredited public, private, or parochial
secondary school, an accredited college or conservatory of music, or engaged
in the private study of music with a
recognized and established teacher. An applicant must not have reached
his/her 30th birthday by May 30, 2003. The
competition's purpose is to encourage young composers by providing
professional-level
performances of their music
as well as financial incentive. In addition, it is hoped that through this
kind of professional recognition there will be a
greater awareness of these young composers in their communities. There
is a First Prize of $1000 plus a
performance during the 2003-04 season of the Dimensions Contemporary Music
Series at Austin Peay State
University. For more information and complete submission guidelines, please
