ANNOUNCEMENT OF COMPETITION
Musica e Arte Cultural Association announces the “Musica e Arte Composition Contest - 3rd Edition”
Musica e Arte Composition Contest, is open to students attending European Music Conservatories and European University Music Departments and to students graduated, not before the 2004/2005 Academic Year, from the same institutions.
There is not any age or nationality limitation.
Each Composer can submit one score only to the Contest.
The application to the Contest is completely FREE.
The Contest's winner will receive Euros 1,000 (one thousand) and a copy of the "Sibelius" Software.
In case of ex-aequo the money award will be shared among the winners.
The 3rd edition of the Contest is dedicated to unpublished scores, never performed and never awarded any prize for
PIANO and CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
The maximum timing is ten (10) minutes.
Instruments:
1 PIANO
2 FLUTES (also piccolo)
1 CLARINET
1 BASSOON
1 TRUMPET
PERCUSSION (small) 1 player
4 VIOLINS I
3 VIOLINS II
2 VIOLAS
1 CELLO
1 DOUBLE-BASS
In order to facilitate the organization of the Orchestra, every Composer must use all the instruments or parts indicated in the list written above.
The scores must be sent in a sealed envelope with the following documentation:

SIX (6) Copies on A4 size paper printed (not handwritten) in traditional notation
Completely filled out application form with a copy of a valid I.D.

A short text explanation about the Composition

Documentation of proof of enrolment in an Italian or European Conservatory of music, University of music, Hochschule, any recognized music Academy for the 2006-2007 Academic Year, or in alternative a Diploma from one of these Institutions obtained not before the 2004/2005 Academic Year.
The complete documentation, in italian or english, must be sent within midnight of the 30th of January 2007 to the following address:

The Composers of the scores selected as finalists will be contacted by phone, fax or e-mail. Then, they must send the extracted parts and the full-score in computerized notation (supported by "Finale" or "Sibelius" software) saved on a non re-writable CD. These items must be sent to:

within midnight of the 28th of February 2007.
Other scores, even if not selected as finalists, can be chosen by the Association to be performed at large if considered artistically valid.
The materials sent for the Contest won't be returned, and will remain in Association’s archive.
Since the premiere of a new composition is a moment of great responsibility, the Composers selected as finalists will be invited to the rehearsals as to work-out, with the Conductor, the best execution.
All travel expenses are responsibility of the finalists to the Contest. The rehearsals will take place in ROME, Italy.
The final concert will respect the following schedule:

Execution of all the Compositions selected as finalists.

The Jury votes and declare the winner.

Re-execution of the winning Composition

Award ceremony: The winner will receive Euro 1,000 (one thousand) and a copy of the "Sibelius" Software.
The performance will be broadcast on the Italian national radio station RCF.

The Jury can also decide not to award any Composition or to award more than one. In that case the winners will be considered as ex aequo.
Any dispute will be submitted to the jurisdiction of the court of Rome.
